ABOUT KARASTAN RUGS:
Marshall Field, an industrialist/retailer was responsible for creating
the Karastan rug mill in 1926. Mr. Field modified an existing
axminister loom to create a unique machine made rug woven through the
back, closely mimicking a handmade oriental rug. the features that set
Karastan rugs apart from their machine made competitors is their
durability derived from their power driven process of weaving, along
with their masterful finishes. In 1993 Mohawk Industries, which is located in Calhoun, GA acquired Karastan.
